General
Separate from Church-State and Constructive Criticism lists, this General list outlines part of my interdisciplinary reading as well as others that might be added to either of those specialized lists. This list, of course, is limited to those books read or reviewed prior to publishing my own book.
As an amateur theologian, not required to evaluate past treatments of any aspect of Christianity, my goal was to identify broad issues. My conclusion: Jesus has been misinterpreted and misrepresented by numerous religious groups that claim his name, an ecumenical problem.
Titles of books I completely read are shown by standard bibliographic format, in italics. Titles of books that I did not completely read are not italicized; I would often read just the front pages, introduction, or segments of scholarly books. Asterisks indicate reference materials consulted.
